    Chinchilling Me Softely

Oh My Gosh I'm glad to know that my husband and arent the only weirdoes! My hubby is a dj so Sookie has had songs from Rihanna - "We found love in a fluffy place", to Biggie Small - "Sookie, Sookie, give me one more chance, Sookie, Sookie give me one more chance!".. The most recent and currently...

    My chin scared me!

Yay I'm not the only one!! Sensi doesnt care for the fleece on the bottom of the cage, but the fleece liners I wrapped around her plastic shelves are her favorite! I tried putting her sister's bed in there, giving her pillows, hammocks, whatever I could think of and no matter what by the end of...

My chins name name be offensive? Should I rename her?

There are soooooooooooo many homosexual slurs (in my family theyre terms of endearment) in Spanish don't worry about it! If there was a "con" (pronounced cone) at the end then yea, its a full blown obvious jab. But Marika is fine! Just tell anyone who wants to cry about it that it's Maria with a...

    Introductions log!

When i did that last time, the new chinnie was bathing in there and the other chin kind of stood over her on the bath and was like poking her in the nose with her nose... I didnt know if that was a good or bad sign so im scared to put anything with them in fear theyll fight over it :( ...

    Introductions log!

Ok so my husband and i have been doing the "lets keep it REEAAALLLYYY slow" approach. After the initial vanilla on nose encounter about 4 months ago we havent let them both out at the same time. Theyre cages have been side by side though since then. They definitely are aware of each other and...

    Introductions log!

This is about as far as Sookie (15 month old original chin) and Sensi (8 month Old new baby) have gotten. Same exact behaviors between the two. Sookie is dying to meet the new baby, we haven't done mutual playtimes since the first when I think they went for the vanilla on each other's noses, but...

So far so good, I think (introducing chins)

Ever since I did the vanilla on the nose and bums and the girls made movements towards each others' noses I slowed it way down. I have been doing cage swapping once or twice a week and put their cages closer to each other. I dont think the nose boop thing was bad though, because the past 2...

    Oxbow treats

That's what I figured.. Sigh us chinnie slaves can never blindly trust anynname brand
  13. SookiFace1

    Wild chin

Definitely take the advice of just slowly letting the chin get to know you.. Imagine the chin is a very very shy small child.. Talk to the chin, sing to it, just sit by the cage and hang, read a book, watch tv, whatever.. Just gave o give them time to know you're a friend and not going to hurt...

    fur question..

Ok silly question time! =D Most of the time when I've encountered crusty hair with animals it's been from scabbing/infection. Have you fi ger probed the skin under that patch to make sure there isn't a cut or anything? How does your chinnie drink water? Sometimes my youngest drinks it at...

So far so good, I think (introducing chins)

Cmor - I'm at the same nervous stage with introducing my girls. If you'd like we can do the buddy system and use this thread as kind of a journal and q&a for each other :)

    Timothy hay cubes

I'd suggest buying the cubes and seeing if your chinnies will eat them first.. My 1 year old won't touch them but my you gets loves them. They'll both destroy Timothy Hay but for some reason Sookie hates them

    Oxbow treats

So after much harassment Bermuda finally has oxbow products!! Yay!! The pet store brought in these treats and evn though the worst thing I've seen in the ingredients tosses the end of the list I wanna make sure these are indeed ok before I buy them for my babies...

    New pics of the girls

I have noticed this with Sookie! Ever since we got Sensi he went from a "don't touch me, only feed me " Diva, to a scritches queen and attention fiend!!!
  20. SookiFace1

    Stubborn...

You just described my Sookie!! In the cage shell do scritches, be loving, etc. The moment t comes to getting her out of the cage or holding her, she turns into a ferocious beast! Just last seek she FILLED my husbands hand with pee when he did manage to grab her so I could clean her cage...
