I have to say, I am very impressed with you guys that have so many cages, and manage to keep them clean. I have six large cages and six smaller maternity cages, and getting them all cleaned on the same day is enough for me! I clean on Saturdays, and my back is usually hurting on Sundays.

Kathiva, kudos for hanging in there and accepting constructive criticisms. You're not perfect, none of us are, but you are willing to learn, which is more than a lot of people.

Those wheels aren't safe regardless, they're too small for normal sized chins, it causes them to run funny, and they can get a tail or paw stuck in between the cross bar and the support bar when the wheel goes around.

Kathiva- I think it's great you are listening to everyone's criticism and that you will be taking steps to change it. :)

I was going to buy chin spins for my cages, but I will have Chichi in a cage with her daughter. Should I wait to buy a chin spin then?

ok, nevermind. Got the answer in the chatroom. About 6 months. Good, give me a chance to save up to buy those chin spins!!! :)

Yes, I know, that is the idea actually on showing something to everyone and receiving criticism about it, some people may or may not like what they see, but that is the way it is, and even though some comments might hurt, staying positive is the key :)

I was more concerened with the number of chins in the cages to the far left, Over crowding in a cage can affect the air flow. I understand they are not all going to match I do have a crowded room. It is those cages that appear so tiny that she says she keeps multiple chinchillas in. From the picture they appear to be about the size of the carrier of your I have at the house, and for a temporary arrangemnet that is one thing but to be using that as breeding cages is a risk,

I do get the mismatched cages I still have some I am working on replacing and such, those just look soo small to have even a pair in long term.

No, I don't use those cages for 2 or 3 chins, I use them for just one, I use them for a pregnant chin that is going to deliver soon, or for when I do introductions and if succesful I will move the new couple to a bigger cage, or when I have a chin that is not getting along with another one, after a not succesful introduction I would put them there, etc., if you see, the chin that is trying to escape, Misty, she is alone in there because she should be giving birth soon, and then I have in each of those cages, only one chin per cage. Sorry if I didn't explain it right

Those cages are 22 deep, by 15 tall and 15 wide, I've seen smaller runs than these ones, and I don't even use them for runs, as they are only two holes per row, allowing me to have one male with 2 females, these are vertical runs actually, but just use them as individual cages

My biggest worry is the wallpaper that looks to be falling down... if it's coming down, why not move the chins out for a day, strip the paper, then wipe the walls and put the chins back in? If they start cheewing on the paper, I can't think the glue would be good for them.

yeah, I hate that wallpaper, and actually I wanted to ask the tenant if he would let me take it out, it is falling down anyways, and there is no use to keep it

oh by the way, that wallpaper is only on that one wall, so it should be easy to take it out, I could just move the cages a little aside and take it off

Jordan - Why do you insist on following Kathiva around and commenting on her posts as though you are God's gift to chins? You aren't all that experienced and all knowing either. Us "old timers" remember you quite well from CnQ and we know your experience level.

Lay off and stop hunting her answers looking for reasons to pick. This is becoming a common theme and it's starting to irritate me. If you actually HAVE something constructive to say that's fine, but everything you posted above is complete crap.

It would seem to me if you have time to dedicate to chastising Kathiva, you would also have time to fulfill orders that you have left hanging?

I was just giving my opinion. I'm not hunting her posts down.
Orders left hanging???? I do my orders as they come, and what I discuss with my customers is really none of your business. I amend the problems as they come up. Items get lost in postage, Refunds are sent out.

JMO, if the customer is a forum member that you got from the forum by advertising here FOR FREE, then it is forum business if those customers needs are not satisfied.

besides all the other things, wheels, hammocks, cages, do you think my chins are spoiled? am I doing it right? almost all my cages have hammocks, tubes, wooden houses, chew toys and ledges, I try my best, but just wondering if I am missing something else

Bahahaha. You really think that? As forum owners, they can get in anyone's business they so please.

I dont think anything is really missing. The only thing you can do is continue to be open to learning. Nobody knows EVERYTHING about chinchillas. There is just too much to know.
You have all the right items its just sorting through what is safe.
