Dear All,
I am sure I am not the first to view these videos on chins and their care (Smiles, I do not even know how I found it ! :) (youtube how to buy and care for chinchillas) which then transfered to (Taking good care of your chinchilla) And..... I have not viewed them all as of yet. I thought they presented a lot of good information - What do you think ?
Best, Grace

If I recall, this was not a good series, and many members here were trying to get them removed from Expert Village. It's not all bad information, but that's the scary part if you're new to chins - it's difficult to differentiate the good from the bad. In my opinion, there's a much more respectable wealth of knowledge right here on the forum.

I've watched a few - maybe 40-50% correct info, but you'd learn more correct information here, just reading some of the 'stickies' posted!

Well Darn ! I thought I found some good information ! Flip ! (I don't cuss) . What did you disagree with ? I thought the feeding info was good, as well as bedding ? Males/Females, who to pair, who to not (Lord.... I don't want to go through that again) - as he agreed with "This/Our/My" forum. So, Again, I have not seen all of the videos, curious as to incorrect information. Very Best, Grace

Sorry.... Starleomach, What does IMPO mean ? Sincerely,Grace

I don't know that it's really 'bad' information as much as incorrect and/or obsolete - apparently they've been reading old books, and not keeping up on what's learned from experience over the years, much of what is related here!

In my personal opinion= IMPO

I have seen all of two of the videos before I could stomach any more. They had misinformation about colors and genetics....One of the vidoes suggested that it is better to pair male and females together and if you did so at a young age they will not mate. Absoulutely incorrect I stoped after that. Just plain old scary

Starleomach, I have not seen that portion of the video, However, as I wrote, have not seen all. Thank you, Grace

I think one of the videos said that you shouldnt have any lose wires but right in the middle of the screen is a big long orange cord connected to the camera lol i also kind of find that girl annoying!

They also used other people's photos in the videos without permission. One photo they used they claimed to be fungus but it was really an example of really bad bumble foot. The whole series was crap.

Yeah, we tried really hard to get "Expert Village" (insert my sarcastic font please) to remove those videos. They got so many thumbs downs and bad comments. Now her stupidity is branching out to other venues and it's just scary to think that that is what people are going to see and think of as expert advice. Listening to her information is like reading one of those crappy books you can find at a pet store. There's just enough fact in there to make you think it's a legitimate source of information, but really she's clueless about pretty much anything but the very, very basic care of chins.

Lauren who does an Expert Village chinchilla series is a member here and was on CnQ as well. I'm assuming that's who you are talking about?

I don't have a clue if she's a member here or anywhere else, but if she is, she sure isn't making use of the forum resources to present accurate, helpful videos. Maybe a little more time should be spent reading the forums and actually learning about chins and genetics, before posting "expert" advice in the form of videos for other people to view. People on this forum and others try every single day to give accurate and complete information, to try and make sure that chins are well taken care of and breeders have accurate genetic information. Then you see those videos and it just makes you want to smack somebody.

And the whole picture theft thing? Extremely tacky. I know for a fact the woman who owns those pictures asked for them to be removed (it was right in the comments of the video as well as reported to the powers that be at Expert Village) and they were not. It's bad enough that she gave the wrong diagnosis with it, but to take and use them without permission is just really bad form.

I am extremely disappointed to hear that bad information was so broadly disseminated by a member of the community.

I've seen a number of here videos and did not hear any of the misinformation that was mentioned in this thread. Maybe someone could PM a video or two they are refering to so I don't have to watch them all?
