My new chin was barking, and I put on some classical music, and he stopped! When the music stopped, he started again, and he barked at certain pieces! I'm listening to the 'Waltz of the Snowflakes', and he isn't making a sound! Do you think it's the music or just his behavior?

I think it's the music. You have a note-lover on your hands.
My Morgan Freeman comes sit on his highest rock when Jeremy and I watch TV, and when we watch Pokemon Dr. Death sits on the pirate ship deck.

My Chinchillas love music too. As long as it's not loud and not "music" that sounds like people screaming.. I think it soothes them. I always leave country on. :)

Mine love rock. Ive tried classical and other types of music but rock seems to do it for them. They especially love AFI, Three Days Grace and Three Doors Down. I have one that likes POD but the other 2 do not, so she only gets to listen to them at play time. ;)

Wow Jordan a guy who listens to classical music? That in itself is almost amazing to me! I laugh a little as I am listen to The Romantic Piano classics right now at work lol! My chins love music AND television! Abigail & Solange absolutely love NCIS and NCIS Los Angeles! So I do know they find sounds and sights just as fascinating as we do!

Mine always stop whatever they're doing and run to the front of the cage as soon as the theme song for "Spongebob Squarepants" comes on!!

chinchillas like the background noise. Many ranchers play the radio or soft music 24 hours a day it seems to be a stress relief thing, Kinda like white noise

I think chins could be trained with music. :err: If thy knew they did something good when their favorite song is playing, then we could have chins who could sit, jump, anything! Of course, we wouldn't be exploiting them like circus animals already are.

I leave the radio on in the chin room each night on a soft rock station. I'd like to be able to pick up a classical station but so far haven't been able too. I do turn the music off in the morning when I check on them. I also leave a night light on in the night as well so they're not in total darkness. I also pull the blinds up so they can have natural moonlight too. Not sure if all this is necessary but I've got to think that it is pleasant for them. I know it is to me.

Krickett loves football, especially a good game with lots of yelling and screaming, but then again...she's a macaw!

I need to find new pieces for Rocco, he's getting bored with the main 3 I play for him. :skeptical:

I keep "soft-rock" on the radio in the chin room - with dogs occasionally barking, I'd rather not have them startled!

This sounds bizarre...but my chins are hooked on the movie "Ocean's 13" and I have to play it several times a day. They won't let me change the DVD...they just listen to that movie over and over and over. I think they like George Clooney...or someone else on the movie.

They have to have something on all the time or they get annoyed. So, the small room has the TV and DVD player, but the other rooms have the radio on all the time...their choice of music can be irritating. It's an adult contemporary station with a very high repetition rate. I know the words to all the songs...sometimes I change the words... :D

I see nothing strange with wanting to watch George Clooney over and over again. Do they like Johnny Depp too, lol?

I wonder if Buster would stop biting me if I put on some TV shows with some little hotties, hmmm.

OH!!! Now that you mention it, they do. They had a little thing with Edward Scissorhands back in November and December. We watched that movie many, many times. They liked the music.

Put the television on for Buster...he'll enjoy it. Or, country music...they LOVE country music and I don't know why.

Well who didn't love Edward Scissorhands. That's the first show I saw my boy Johnny in and I think I'll rent it soon and watch it myself. I can't get any classical stations on my little radio but I can get a country station I think so I will try that tonight for the sweet little Buster Boo.

I think I bought the DVD for about $5, Carol Ann. Of all the money I have wasted on DVDs over the years...all I needed was Edward Scissorhands and Ocean's 13!

Chins are way too much fun...I'd love to know what they are really thinking when they sit there all transfixed by the television or music. hehehe
