Hello, there. I recently acquired a chinchilla named Chin. We changed it to WuWu. I still don't know for certain if WuWu is female or male. At first we thought male, now we are thinking female.
In either case, WuWu was made a part of the family about 5 months ago. I adopted WuWu and her previous owner gave me everything I needed to start off with. It was a dream come true because I'd wanted one for 11 years (though I knew nothing about them)! I have two children who are absolutely in love with her. Im finding that WuWu is one of the best pets to have around my children, as long as I keep a close eye on both parties.
When I first brought WuWu home, I lived in Alexandria, VA. Since then, I've had to move in with family in Rockville, MD. I'm finding the pet places in the Rockville area not to be very informative, though. At least in Alexandria, I was told they didn't know and then they tried to refer me to someone who did. I have found several vets in the rockville area, as well, but they seem to be more concerned about the money and less about the actual health of WuWu.
Well, WuWu loves to run around. She's less of a cuddly Chin, but she does love to be pet; behind the ears is her favorite spot. She's very easy going and has yet to bite anyone...even when she obviously feels threatened. Instead she makes this growling sound and tries to "bump" you off by standing on her hind legs and "bouncing" up and down (all that for lack of better words). She does like to nibble, though, when she smells the remnants of treats.
Well, anyway...I found this site on google, while trying to look up answers about hair loss. I've read through some of it, and found it to be very informative, so I thought I'd give it a try. :chin5:
