wood chips

hey do you think wood chips (of safe wood types) for grills would be safe for chinchillas to chew on example:

Cowboy Charcoal 2lbs. Apple Wood Chips

I would avoid it for a few reasons:
1) There is no way to know how sanitary the storage environment was. Ok for a fire, not so much when it is being chewed.
2) It is run through a chipper with grease, oil, etc.
3) It does not have a lot of bark, so I don't know how interested your chins would be.

4) deffenitly not boiled or baked like the wood you can get online

I would not use it for chinchillas for reasons stated above. I just wouldn't chance it.
