I'm always careful about the wires but somehow one of my chins got ahold of one. He chewed a nice portion of it and I'm positive it shocked him. The flash woke me up. His hair is singed a little but you cant see it unless you really look.

I tried getting a look at his mouth but I couldn't.

He seems to be acting normal otherwise. He didn't freak out when it happened but I'm still very concerned.

What would you recommend I do? One of the only exotic vets around is closed today so I can't take him in until tomorrow. Should I just monitor his behavior until then?

He wouldn't take a Cheerio from me earlier but now he did. He nibbled on sticks too, but not a lot. He did eat some hay as well.

I saw him paw at his mouth once, but that was it. He was hopping around and lounging in his favorite spot like nothing happened. He does seem hesitant to chew anything though.

Will he be okay until tomorrow? He doesn't seem lethargic or anything.

Okay so I ordered CC in case I needed it.

His lip got a little swollen yesterday and he was worrying me because I hadn't seen him eat. Now I know that he usually sleeps so I'm not sure if that was why he wasn't eating or if it was his mouth that bothered him.

Either way, he would take cheerios from me and he did nibble on some sticks earlier in the day. I had managed to get him to eat a tiny bit of an alfalfa hay cube(he doesn't get that often so I thought it would be a good idea to get something in him) so I was happy about that.

Last night I kept checking on him and I found him nibbling on hay(which he ate nearly all of!) and his pellets. Poops are all normal(aside from the first few, probably because he had too many cheerios and the alfalfa), he chewed some more of his sticks, drank some water, etc... I believe he is peeing normally but it's hard to tell since I just changed the litter pan but I'm sure it will be visible soon.

He was even energetic enough to drag his wooden house across the cage Lol.

I tried looking at his mouth and the swelling did go down some, but I do think I saw some pink spots/burns. What should I do about that? Behavioral wise he seems fine, but I will take him in for a vet visit if necessary. Would they prescribe meds or just take a look at his mouth?

Mk so I just got back from the vet. He has a little mouth irritation and he gave me mupirocin ointment to put on there twice a day for a week. It was a lot better than I expected!

He also behaved so well! Not one complaint from him the whole time. No squirming either! :]

Good boy! Now hopefully he won't get a hold of any more wires! Did one dangle too close to his cage? The first post made it sound like he roamed free while you slept. x,x

Oh no, he was in his cage haha.
There is a lamp right next to it so I can see things better when I'm cleaning. I bought an extension cord so I could keep the wire away but it must have fell close to the cage or something.

His poops seem a bit larger than normal but I did give him some alfalfa. I have a scale on the way so I can weigh him. He was munching on sticks so I imagine that he can't be in too much pain, which makes me happy.

I'm still keeping a close eye on him.

Thanks. :]

He's not a fan of the ointment but it's got to be done!

I don't think he ate quite as much last night, so I gave him a tiny bit of CC just to keep things moving.

My scale should be here today so I can monitor him better. He is still chewing wood and he will take treats. Sometimes he goes through a spell where he doesn't want much of his hay, so I don't know if it's that or if it has to do with the wire.

Okay so he's been okay for the most part.

He was eating regularly, drinking, pooping... However it appears that he lost weight. Now I can't tell if this is my scales fault, but it appears that he has. I was weighing his food and he's been eating so I don't know why he would be losing weight.

Should I get him back on Critical care towels him gain or keep weighing him? If he really is losing weight I don't want to just do nothing. He seems fine otherwise!

CC won't produce weight gain, I would first confirm he is losing. Poo quality and quantity tells the story of what he is eating, if that was normal I would just watch. If I was really concerned I would give him like 10-20ml of Lifeline a day.

Thank you. He is eating and pooping pretty normal but according to the scale, he lost 20g in two weeks. I do weigh their food so I know it works.. It doesn't give me different readings or anything aside from when I weigh them. My other one is up 10g. I know since they're moving around, it may change it a bit but that's pretty drastic... So I didn't know of I should be concerned or not.

Where is the fastest/best place to get lifeline?
