Hello
I have just gotten a new chinchilla name yet to be decided a few days ago. He is a beautiful violet and has a great personality. The home he came from was not a good one he had a very small cage in a dark basement and was not taken out or haddled, he is just now allowing me to pick him up and and hold him. Anyways my boy has a few bald patches from i am guessing fur bittting but I am not sure and I was wondering if the fur will ever grow back or is it one of thoes things that once gone it will never come back.

Thank you

Can you post pictures of the affected areas? Fur chewers do not have bald spots, but rather spots with much shorter hair. It sort of looks like a bad buzz cut. Completely bald areas could be caused by fungus or fur slips.

Fur chewers may stop chewing in less stressful environments, or they may never stop. If you post a picture we'll be able to tell you what's going on.

Where are the bald spots located on the chin? Pictures would help to determine if it's a fur slip or something like fungus.
