Hello all and thanks for taking the time to read in advance.
My wife was cleaning the chins' cage yesterday with a vinegar spray. She took out the cage bottom tray, scooped out all of the soiled carefresh, hay, etc and started spraying the tray with vinegar to wipe it clean. Well, the cage was left open unawares and as she was spraying the tray, one of the chins jumped out super fast and got a spray of vinegar right in the face (the tray was being cleaned right next to the cage opening. He didn't make any noise at all (they he clicks and squeaks all the time when any of the other chins jump on him); he just started wiping his face with his hands My wife feels horrrrrible.
His face dried up pretty quickly after a few minutes of rolling in the dust bath. His behavior is totally fine, but i'm concerned because he's keeping his right eye closed. This morning, when we let him out to play, he had it opened and was running/jumping around just fine, but the rims of his eyelid looked a little red. It appeared to us that he could see fine on his right side.
We just used a damp cloth to gently wipe his eyelid. There's no discharge of any sort. Is he ok????
Thank you so much for any response. We called the local exotic pet vet and he isn't in until Jan 2, so we couldn't consult for advice yet.
