Do their whiskers fall out? I found one of Shelly's in her cage last week and another one last night. Is this normal? Do they grow back?

yes, they fall out ocasionally and yes they grow back. Usually a whisker will fall out as they result of a whisker growing in its place. its kinda like human hair. the hair grows, dies and falls out all while being replaced with another hair.

yep, i find gizmo's whiskers every so often. he's a bit prissy and grooms them often so i assume they fall out cuz of that.

theyre pretty nifty to look at up close.

hi everyone, i have another question... what about whiskers which aren't straight... seems like these have been at the bottom of a laundry basket (of course they were not, just noticed yesterday).

has anyone else had this issue?

Nothing to worry bout their whiskers. Its most probably broken . Is it bent in the middle?

honestly many of them are a bit messy looking. one was bet right in the middle (a really long one) and it bothered her (she kept pulling at it), so i trimmed that one off.... and she didn't pull at the whiskers anymore. She doesn't seem to mind the messy whiskers, but i recall them being nice and straight before.

some now are bent in middle some are just very wrinkled looking.... not sure how else to describe it.

Does she have a cage mate? It's possible that her mate could be chewing at her whiskers.
