im looking into getting the FN 182 but then i dont know where to get a metal pan at the bottom/middle. i was going to use fleece but then i would have to wash it way to often or else it would stink and zooky wont litter train. so i want to stick to aspen bedding and just fill his 2 floors with that. but where can i get a metal pan? or can i make the floor of the second floor all wood? but i dont want him to pee on the wood so then i was look into making the second floor all granite but i dont know where to get that either. so where can i buy a metal pan for the first and second floor? if not then just the first floor and then where can i get granite for a reasonable price?

The best I have found is finding someone local to make them. Getting pans of stainless steel (very costly) or getting the pans made from galvalume roofing steel which comes in many colors, cleans super easy and lasts a very long time. You can also use regular galvanized steel but it does not last as long or clean up as well. I have found someone near me that has the right equipment to make them right and makes them very reasonable but does not just do one or two at a time. He sets up a pattern and then likes to do a run of at least 20 or more of that size at a time. I usually get them 100 at a time in the sizes I use.

I get my pans from bassequipment.com - they have the FN pans on their site.

I actually tried finding someone locally, since I always see it suggested on here. I was looking to get a 30 x 18 pan, so nothing overly huge. My quote from Bass was $16.95 with $10ish shipping... I posted on craigslist and asked around... I got one quote of $45, and another of $85. Um, ouch? So while I would love to get my pans locally, it's unfortunately not feasible for everyone, but if you can find someone locally, I say go for it! For me, I have to order from Bass, and that's ok, its just that I'd rather save myself some on shipping...

i was thinking of making a wooden pan. would that be ok? or is that a bad idea? i would put a good amount of aspen to prevent too much leaking and staining. and i was thinking to keeping the plastic tray if its not a problem. because my chin has never chewed on any plastic at all. and then once/if he starts to i would make a wooden pan, unless thats bad. what other materials could i make a pan out of besides metal, if the wood is out.

I would do away with the plastic pan as they will eventually chew on it. No point in creating a future vet bill. You can make a wooden one and cover it in tile or just train them to a smaller corner litter dish so they don't pee all over the wood. Or you could put some polyurethane on the wood and put deep bedding over it.

well i was thinking of just doing wooden pans with bedding in it. i dont mind the wood being stained but would other problems start to occur if i just do wood with bedding? i was thinking the second floor would be a granite bottom instead of a tray and the lower could be the wood and bedding idea. or what else could i put on the wood trays instead of polyurethane. or where could i get polyurethane
