where can I buy pvc pipes? when i make fleece tubes I always use the cardboard tubes... but I'd really like to use PVP pipes. I looked at home depot and they didn't have the kind I wanted.

I'm looking for just the smooth kind, big enough for a chinchilla to comfortably sit inside.

Basically I want a re-useable version of the Chubes I use so it can be cleaned instead of having to be replaced often. Noelle has a habit of peeing all over everything and with the fleece tube I have to replace the tube part more often than I'd like and its getting expensive to keep buying chubes.

thank you!

Lowes has the 6 inch ones but they are like 10 feet long

ahh they do? I don't have a Lowe's in town...will they cut them down in the store? I don't have anything powerful enough at home to chop it up.

At my lowes you have to buy the whole 10 feet, they are easy to cut to size though, if you just have a hand held manual saw (one of the ones you just slide back and forth) It will cut through it

Edit: If you ask nicely though im willing to bet lowes will cut it to the right size for you but you would still need the whole length depending on how they sell it.

Ace tends to have a decent selection (at least the couple I've been to). Your local non-chain hardware store might have something like that. Are there such things as plumbing stores?

I think there is a plumbing store locally, I'll check it out this week.

Thank you for the help everyone! I greatly appreciate it.

Look in the aisle for connectors - interesting configurations there.
Also check new construstion in your area - they just pitch the cutoffs!

Nope. No matter how nice you ask they will not cut the 6 inch, at least mine won't. They will cut the smaller, but the 6 inch is up to you to cut.

I bought my 6" pipe at Home Depot. It was white and...20" or 24" long. It was in the drainage section, which is usually located left of center in the store (near the other pipe fittings)....You will see long coiled black drainage tubes and drainage grates, etc. They I believe call it an "extender" or something to that effect. The actual use is to connect a deep pipe (that leads to the sewer) with the surface drain grate. I thought it was like $12. But decent chance I am wrong on that since it has been awhile. And yes, you need to cut your own with a hack saw or maybe if you know someone with a band saw. Yeah, Lowe's never has that PVC pipe.

you might be able to give a local plumbing store or plumber or even a contractor a couple bucks and they will give you their discards. the small sizes we need are often discards to contractors. I bought my fleece covered PVC from someone on here but I have bought PVC for a french drain from my lowes or home depot but i dont think they will cut it, but maybe an ace hardware or smaller not so chain like hardware store might?

If you want to cut PVC you need a hacksaw. PVC is not hard to cut by hand with a hacksaw at all. What you would need is someone to hold the other end to keep it steady while you cut it.
