Pretty low on cash, but I'm looking to add a bit more to my cage. Its pretty plain right now :(

Gonna make another hidey house and a few ledges on my own, so thats saving a bit there. I'd really like a bridge, maybe some hammocks or other fleece toys, and some hanging chew toys.

The max I'll be able to spend will probably be around $50 and I just wanna be able to get the most of my money for my little guys. I've looked at a few online stores, but everything is so pricey($15+ per item), not to mention the arm and leg for shipping!

Does anyone know of any stores with great prices? I'll even buy gently used toys from other members as well! :)

Used will be your best bet, or make things yourself.

I think that you really have to look at the time and materials involved. $15 for something is really not that expensive. Given the time involved making the item and coming up with the design. And it's not like it's up to the seller for how much shipping is, that's up to the Post Office. If you were to go to a pet store you'd be spending a heck of a lot more than $15 per item for something all the sellers on here sell.

AND, if you aren't a "crafty" person, it's nice to know that we have some VERY talented suppliers on here (I can vouch for Allison's quality materials and handwork and fair pricing) to do the work for you!!!

She's right -- go to Petsmart or Petco and you will not find fleece hammocks, just the ones made out of fabric which is easily chewed and could be hazardous to your chin.

Check out the classifieds under Chin Supplies for Sale. There is usually someone with some sort of sale going on, especially now with the holidays upon us. Or, post what you are looking for under Chin Supplies wanted. Someone probably has just what you are looking for.

You can buy some wood, prepare it, drill holes in it, dye it with food coloring or kool-aid, string it, attach hooks to each end, and hang it in the cage for them to chew on. You can buy an 8 foot board at Home Depot and make your own ledges. Buy a couple yards of fleece and make some liners. Buy some pvc pipe and make fleece covers for them. I've made lots of stuff for my cages!

i know this is old (i'm new and just soaking it all up), but as far as fleece, i have been catching the fleece throws in target and walmart for 2-3 bucks. They are large enough to make multi items. i got a really cute blue one with snowflakes. and as far as hanging, i made button holes and used the fleece for hanging. i'm pretty good with a knot;-) thats how i made my hammocks and they LOVED them!
