Today i realized my chin is now gray but thats the color of his dust bath hes actually a really pretty black with white spots so id like to find a darker dust bath so he can keep more of his normal color after he has his dust bath...
Also are scented dust baths bad?? Id love to have him smell nice but i dont really trust them yet.. Seems pretty iffy

There is no darker dust bath. That's the natural of the dust and that's how it should be. The dust sinks down into the fur, and it doesn't stay gray for very long, so it's not a big deal.

I would not use scented dust baths. I don't think chins smell bad anyway, so see no need to cover them up with perfume. More importantly, their respiratory tracts are not accustomed to having perfume all over them, and I would not subject my chin to that.

I agree with Tunes. My chins have never had a bad odor. I have a **** eb chin and when she just gets done dusting she's lighter but it doesn't last too long. Very soon she's back to her pitch black self.

Same here. My **** ebs only stay light for a couple of hours. The only way that it could keep your chin constantly lighter is if you are leaving the dust bath in the cage 24/7.

Like Cuddlebug mentioned, leaving the dust in their cage 24/7 is a no no. Not only do they often use it as a litter box, and then roll in their urine, it will also dry out their skin. Chins should only be dusted 1-2 times per week depending on the humidity where you are located.

Same here, no dark dust bath and yes they look lighter for about an hour they go back to normal, They should only get a dust bath for 15 minutes 2-3 times a week. And scented dust is just asking for a upper respiratory infection

I agree, the excess dust goes away pretty quickly, and IMHO, health is more important than aesthetics anyway. I would definitely avoid the scented dust - it will only be an irritant. And maybe I'm weird, but I love the smell of freshly dusted chins as it is :))

My eb does get lighter when i dust him. I dont usually smell him after a bath, because it makes me sneeze. But to tell you the truth I LOVE the smell of him, he smells so good. also his shavings give him a bit of wood smell, and that i think is better than any perfume i could ever put on him.
