I know from reading these threads, that giving half cranberry juice/half water is good for mom to produce milk. Should I give it before she actually gives birth, or wait until she does? She should be giving birth within the week. Thanks for any help.

I start it at delivery. The juice/water combo doesn't in itself stimulate milk but encourages mom to drink more which does help in milk production. I do give expecting moms loose alfalfa before delivery and for the first few weeks when the demands are the greatest on her. It's also a good source of Vitamin K. Just don't overdo the alfalfa since it can cause soft stools if they're not used to it.

I do it with first time moms, and only after delivery. You can never really know the delivery date so you don't want too much sugar for too long.

i have read to use apple cider vinegar in water to stimulate appetite and drinking, i have not heard of cranberry juice or apple juice, i have not needed to do this thankfully but is what i read an alternative to cranberry juice? or a load of junk?

I have never heard that one Cassie.. but several people do apple or cranberry 50/50.. I dont any more unless I have a new mom that doesnt seem to be drinking.. I did in the beginning. Please make sure if you do that you buy 100% juice none of the cocktail stuff and that this is in addition to a reg water bottle

To help mom develop an appetite and to drink something I usually provide 1/4 sugar free, pure, apple juice mixed with 3/4 water. I'll give this to her right after delivery. I don't usually do 50/50 cause the little bit I provide gives just a little flavor to the water. I wanted to provide more water than juice, and I only give it to them once.

Edit: sugar free apple juice basically apple juice with no EXTRA sugars added
