I want to get my girl a plush toy to cuddle with. I read some people put one in their chins cage. Is there a certain one that is safe to use? I was thinking about getting a webkinz chinchilla, but I think the eyes are plastic, or something that can be chewed off and swallowed.

Thanks

An all fleece cuddle buddy is the best bet for your chin. Check out the some of the members with chinchilla stores to find one. You are right while the webkinz chinchilla is very cute, it is not made of the best material to keep in a cage with a chinchilla. Check out Allison's site--Camphorchins.com for a cuddle buddy.

I actually found a dog toy at Wal-mart made completely out of fleece with nothing sewn or glued onto it. It was only $2.00 but unfortunately, Kiwi just sued it to pee on......all the time. lol.

The only thing with using dog toys or people toys is that they're stuffed with polyfil. So if your chin chews through the fleece they can eat the polyfil. All sellers on here should stuff their toys with fleece strips.

If you can sew you can easily make your own or check out the sellers on here.

I recently ordered a bunch of the cuddle buddies from Allison of Camphor Chins and I see 3 of my 5 chins who are already using them and its only been a couple of days. I bought one of the webkinz and mentioned that I would NOT leave it in CJ's cage unattened as he has pulled the fur off it right in front of me, so it's definitely not a good cuddle buddy to leave in the cage.

I kept an eye on Kiwi with her buddy, she never chewed on it, she just peed on it. My husband(who doesn't care about chin's lol) was worried about her chewing it as well because he didn't know what was in it. He thinks we don't know he's really smitten by her hahahaha.

I have an elephant that my chin Sidney uses....she absolutely LOVES him!!! She sleeps on him all the time, pulls him around her cage and everything...He was a ty baby for babies and we opened him up and took out all the stuff inside and stuffed him with fleece. He has no sewn on eyes or nose or anything, and she really loves him! I took him to our vet angie to see if she thought he was ok for Sidney and she said yes...Sidney goes crazy when we take him out of her cage to clean it!

That reminds me of a chin named Pablo, who lived here years and years ago. He had a plush animal...I think it was Shamu or something like that, it said it was from Seaworld. I tried to take that thing out of his cage but he would never have it. I removed the eyes, I took out the stuffing....and it looked bad, but he still loved it so much. Pablo was a strange chin.
