Hi there! I just got home from taking my chin, Jazz, to the vet. Sunday night we noticed something wrong with her foot. We didn't know if it was sprained or broken. I called a couple places, but the only exotic vet i could find was off work. After reading other posts about what broken legs could do to chins, I took her as soon as the vet could see her. Sadly, it was too late for the foot and we have to amputate.

My question is what do I do with her cage? I have the Ferret Nation 142. I removed the center piece last year and lined the cage with ledges. Should I downgrade to a smaller cage with no ledges? Or will she be able to adapt? I really don't want her getting hurt again, and I'm not sure what she got her foot caught on. I dont have any ramps. I have my suspicions that it might be a hay holder that i bought about 2 weeks ago. So i'm removing that for good. Any advise would really help! Thanks guys!

Until she is fully healed, she will need to stay in a carrier not a cage. Once she is healed, she will adapt. My three leggers were faster than my four leggers and loved their wheel more.

Add more shelves, more hammocks, so if she should fall she will have somewhere to land rather than falling to the bottom. If she seems to only stay in the bottom of the cage, you can always separate it later.

BTW, I moved this to health and hygiene since cage arrangements really aren't an emergency.

ok, thanks a lot!!! Now i have a second question.... My vet recommended I get LifeLine for Jazz, and said i could order it off chocolate chinchillas.com. I looked and they are sold out ): i didnt see any on quaility mutation chinchillas either. is there any other place I could buy it from?

Chocolate chinchillas is it. Dawnna is the only person who makes it; however check with Tanya on here. She has excellent supplements for many different things and she may be able to help you out.
