What things can you decorate a wood house with?

I've noticed some people have really nice decorated wood houses for their chins......Are there certain types of paint or other things they use that are absolutely not good to use incase they bite/chew on the wood?
I'm fine with keeping it bare, especially if certain products are unknown how they affect chins.
Has anyone used anything? if so what and what brand?

And kool-aid without sugar added, and enough water to use it like water colors.

I can't believe I didn't think of that! lol, thats a great idea. I will definatly try that, I was worried it was paint, but that is a more logical idea. Thanks!
