Hello All !
Another question ! Actually two questions.
I have seen on some chinchilla product sites the sale of pinecones for chins chewing pleasure. Which are safe ? A certain kind ? At my Veternary Clinic, there are many large pinecones (No sprays ever used). Would they be safe ? If so, how often ?
Second question, as I dislike taking up your time with my many questions, is there a "Search" area I have missed (Perhaps I did not look hard enough) for questions such as this which have been asked before ?
Thank you, Grace

I tried to boil and clean up pinecones years ago because someone said that chins loved them. It just ended up being a giant sappy mess in one of my pots. I can't recommend them.

Bob would know if they are worth using, I'd be inclined to go with his opinion. :)

I actually got one in a variety pack that I bought from someone on this forum. I haven't given it to my chins because I couldn't see how they were safe or even looked like they want to chew it... So, I am going to throw mine away. Good question, Grace!

See right across near the top, mine is in a different color, it starts with user CP on the left. Search is 7th from the left.
And you're not taking up our time by asking questions, that's the purpose of the forum...

Some people do give pinecones, but due to the sap, I don't give them. It's so hard to get all the sap out, and I wouldn't want my chins ingesting a bunch of sap, that's why the non kiln dried pine isn't safe.

I'd say stick to wood that you know is safe.

As far as the Search feature, it's located towards the top of the page, under where it says Welcome -your name- etc. If you have the standard skin on the forum, it's located in the dark blue line of things. I'm sure that didn't make a bit of sense, but just look towards the top of the page. It's inbetween New Posts (my favorite feature) and Quick Links

Do a search, but if it's something that hasn't been brought up for some time or you're not happy with the answers ask! Their might be new opinions or information!

I don't do pine cones either, mostly I'm lazy... cleaning, de-sapping, and drying... blah, I just get wood to dry or some KD Pine to cut into chunks and make toys or chews with them, easier, safe, and uhm... easy and safe! LOL

Thank you all for the info on Pinecones !
And...... Guess I need new glasses ....... I appreciate the replys on "Search" as it was right in front of my face !!! :) Best, Grace
