Before I go out and feed all my timothy hay cubes to my horses, I would like to try an air purifier. Any suggestions on what kind to get that would relieve my poor kids allergies? I would rather try that than feeding all the timothy cubes to my horses. It would also be nice if I could just bring hay home from the barn rather than having to buy hay cubes. For the cost of one large bag of cubes I can get 150 lbs of top quality orchard timothy mix that has only been fed water and manure, no pesticides.

I have two.

The stay-at-home model that I got quite awhile back is a Honeywell... It has to be at least a decade old and they don't sell the model anymore, but the Honeywell 50150-N comes pretty darn close. This thing is freaking amazing and has done quite well at dealing with an assortment of bad mojo: cigarettes from downstairs neighbors, cat dander, and pollen. I moved into an apartment in which a cat had lived (cats=allergies=asthma)... I turned it on, gave it a bit of time to filter, and barely a sneeze - previously, I had been struggling for breath.

And a travel model - some tabletop K-mart do-dad. I haven't put it to a true test; ie, cigarette smoke, heavy dust, and pollen. But it did okay to clear out one room with moderate dust.

I really hope that works. With over a ton of hay that is far better than anything that I could ever buy at the pet store it is frustrating to not be able to use it.
