I have a batch of apple wood to scrub. Last time I did it, i wasnt sure if i was using the right equipment! i used my kitchen pot sponge that has the rough edges. but this time i want to try to minimize the boiling and do a better job scrubbing.

I had to throw away my last batch of wood because I either did not dry it good (over 2 hours in the oven!!) or the storage in the zip lock bag caused moisture build up.

I have since stored them in these little cardboard boxes that my K-kup coffee comes in. and that is working out great.

But back to the scrubbing.......what do you all use??

I used a pot scrubber, Then boiled them. I just cut some more branches this weekend and im wondering now if there is anything better, just like you.

I bought a couple of little wire scrub brushes. They have a long plastic handle and the bristles are about an inch x 1/2 inch. I got a pack of three at the fair for a buck, but I am sure there are hardware stores that carry them too. That way I don't get my hands all yucky and it makes quick work of scrubbing it. I am working my way thru the box I cut, got to finish the rest of soon.

thanks guys. i didnt have time last night but i am hoping tonight to run out and get a better scrubber........i like the grill brush, that should be easy to find.
