What colour is my new chin?

Hi all!

I've been lurking here a while. I'm a first time owner who has completely fallen in love with chinchillas. My little lad, Pablo, is settling in nicely. He's a total show off and very clumsy.

We've now been told by several people that he is an unusual colour, but I can't figure out what he is. Someone said charcoal maybe, but I'm thinking maybe heterozygous ebony?

I've attached the only non-blurry photo (he wont quit moving!). His belly is not white, though he has one tiny white triangle under his chin.

Any ideas?

Looks like a light ebony. Because you are in Europe he could be a charcoal but the ones I've seen in person do not have shiny fur. Claire has seen far more of them and can probably tell you one way or another.

Looks ebony to me, which is not a unusual color.

I would say light ebony as well.
