Wet tail in chins?

I have read that chins can get wet tail. My baby hamster just died from wet tail. I wanted to make sure my chins couldn't get it. I washed my hands between handling animals, but they are housed in the same room. Thanks so much!

It hasn't been highly documented, but I would assume it's possible they can get it and disinfect everything very thoroughly.
