you guys have been here every step of the way with my bonding with Starrkey!
He's getting SOooo much better with being handled now, he still moans at being picked up, but when held he's not struggling or fluffing on me anymore-this is however excluding catching him after playtime- can't have it every way eh?

He is also bonding with me well, chewing at me at many opportunities, including my clothes and watch, and recently my hair. He gets pretty into it actually, he scrambles to dig and scratch to get up my arm to chew the more sensitive bits of arm- ouch!

But as i sit in bed typing this i have the most adorable cartoon-mousey face looking at me, paws on the bars staring me out. he has had his run today, and i can't take him out again (i needed help from the parents as i'm a bit ill at present) as its catching him again as he successfully beat my home-made barrocades earlier. he's bouncing around his cage, chewing his ledges and then returning to stare at me.

he clearly wants attention of some form. i give him scritches, talk to him etc, but i don't quite know if i'm fulfilling his entertainment requirements. What do you do to entertain your chin when he's staring you out to come play?

How many things inside the cage does he have to entertain himself? Does he have hanging wood toys? What about a wheel?

For my girls I switch out new hanging toys often to keep them interested in them and they all have flying saucers.

Twigs also keep them preoccupied for a bit.

he has a hanging chew toy, apple twig (fresh today) and his lava ledge is getting some loving, but i took the wheel out as he was completely disinterested, he fell asleep in it one time but mostly he ignored it. Lol clearly not satisfied with toys- just wants his mama's love lol

Yeah, human attention is more fun I'm sure.

What I do is get toys and rotate them out, even if they're not completely chewed. This keeps them interested because if I put in a "new" old toy, to them it's completely new and they will chew on it when previously they ignored it.

Sometimes I just sit by the cage and chat with them while scritching them if I can't let them out again.

Also, a dust bath is ALWAYS a thrill for them, so you could try that.

I agree -- they LOVE to watch TV. I leave mine on all night for them with the volume at a lower level so that I don't hear it in the bedroom.
