where does everyone keep thier chinnies water bottles, in regard to the distance from the bottom of the cage.

i have all ferret nations (rescues go in feisty ferret) and it seems that the only way to really get them to stay is have the nozzle sitting on the bottom rung. which basicially is only inches from the bottom& in most cases my chinnies kinda have to bend their neck.

do you find that they like to kinda be lower and tilt their head to drink or prefer them to be on the higher rung and have to kinda stretch up.

all my bottles are outside mounted. i have mostly the superpet glass bottles but i do have a few plastic ones that the boys that have been here longest use without incident.

crysta did give me an idea to use an additional spring which may allow for a more midlevel option but i will have to test that theory first.

I'd like to know as well if they prefer to bend/tilt their head or stretch up for it. I keep moving the girls' bottle up and down and nothing seems to be a perfect height for them, and I don't know which way they prefer (higher or lower).

I am still trying to figure this out too! I switched to Lixit glass bottles 'cause my SuperPets finally started leaking. I had my Lixits secured by the metal wire holder that came with the SuperPets, and the metal spring holder. I just removed the wire thingy and now have the bottles resting on the middle rung, secured by just the spring. So now the chins have hopefully gone from twisting their necks to stretching up to reach the nozzle. I feel like I have yet to find a great spot for their water bottles where they have easy access to it and it won't be above any wooden shelves or fleece...

with Rhino's cage, i don't have much option as to hanging height of the bottle. the cage wires are much like the FN, but the space between the horizontal ones is more than on the FN. i've got the bottle nozzle about 3 to 4 inches from the cage floor and Rhino seems to drink more water now than when he was in his old cage that had horizontal bars and the nozzle was up higher. he does have to tilt his head a good bit now, but takes long drinks from his bottle, so i don't think it bugs him any to do the tilt.

I have mine about 8 inches above the shelf. I actually lowered the shelf to make it work... Don't know if that is feasible for you. I usually see them sitting on their rumps drinking.

A bit late

I know this is a bit late but it may help someone out. I have an FN And had a terrible time finding the proper place to hang my bottles as well. I ended up taking the ramps since I don't use them inside and hanging them flat against the outside of the cage and using them to hold the water bottle. It gives you a much larger range of space height wise because you're not dependent on those few horizontal bars that the FN has.
