Just a warning for those of you who don't pay enough attention - like me! A few days ago I came to my computer which had warnings all over saying my computer had acquired a virus and would crash if I didn't immediately protect it by installing some antivirus program. I initially thought it was my antivirus program, which is AVG, but it called itself ANG Antivirus. By installing this, I actually infected my computer. If you see a program called ANG Antivirus 09 -BEWARE!!! It is difficult to remove from your computer and gets more aggressive daily. Luckily we have a friend that was able to rid the virus for us. Don't download or install anything unless you are fully aware of what it is. What a pain otherwise :(

It is Conficker C. It's always good to know about these things. I would never have known about the ANG virus if I hadn't asked my dad just before downloading it. Thanks for the warning!

Macs oh-so-rarely get viruses.
I've yet to have one in all my time of owning one. That's one of the pluses!

But, as Macs get more popular, I'm sure that someone will be just as creative with viruses for Macs.

OH yea, you gotta be careful about downloading that type of stuff, my dad downloaded something like that, and he had to go back to a save point. I personally dont trust things that come up on pop ups. I get it from the store, if i need antivirus. THO! its not to say there are some nice spamicide programs out there.

This is exactly what is going on with me right now...our computer is going haywire. As I type this I am trying to get rid of stuff, but I bet I'll just have to wait for my boyfriend to get home and he will help me re-format everything. It's just my mom's computer and her and my sister really don't understand this stuff, so they tend to get viruses on it...grr! :hair:

Anyone know about the Trojan Horse virus?? We had that popup on the computer some weeks ago...Igh to viruses!

I own a Mac since 2000 and I have yet to see a Mac virus. Actually those pop up "you have a virus" makes me laugh cause they are made like it's a Windows window, it's so obvious it's fake.

I don't even get pop-ups! :tease:

haha I love those!

Actually, a couple months ago there was a virus that was aimed at attacking Macs. So they do happen, just not as often. But I would imagine as people keep working hard to prevent viruses that are affecting pc users, people will start attacking Macs.
I just honestly think some people need to find better things to do with their time.

I keep waiting for one of the Windows installs on my Mac to acquire one but so far nothing. Neither are protected.

VMWare seems to include some pretty nice protection, as well as OSX's firewall.

lol, yea these are good for a chuckle.

Agreed. Yet another reason to love Mac over PC

There are many different trojan viruses out there. It is a term that refers to viruses that disguise themselves on your computer as something harmless, but really they are nasty viruses...

I completely agree...Virus=:hair:

Watch out for the "Olympic Torch" virus. I heard it does some nasty things, like destroys files unimaginably quickly, and it's hard to get rid of.
