What kinds of detergent can I use to wash my fleece. I just washed the liner with nothing in it and, not surprisingly, there was still a pretty bad smell. I wasn't sure if it was safe to use anything or not.

I use hot water and Tide as well as 3/4 cup of white vinegar in the washing machine. The vinegar should get rid of the smell that the detergent can't.

I avoid the scented ones because chins (and I) don't like certain smells. Tide Free has no scent and is OK for sensitive skin, which I have.

Most brands of detergents have a "free" or "free & clear" version that contains no dyes or perfumes. Because I wash a lot of "dog laundry", I only buy the free/clear detergents (I use Cheer or Era).

I usually put a tiny bit of detergent, along with some vinegar, in my chin laundry, and then set the machine to do an extra rinse cycle.
