Hello! new member here, and very VERY eager to get everything set up prior to getting/adopting/owning a chin. I know they can be a handful sometimes so I want to get as much prepared and ready before I embark on the awesome journey to obtain the chin. A couple of questions I have regarding owning one. Thanks in advance =)

1) How much does it (approximately) cost per year to own a chinchilla?
I know it sounds kinda funny asking, but I do need to set aside a budget for my soon-to-be family member and would like to plan ahead

2) What would an ideal cage for a chin have?
I'd like to prepare the best cage I can afford for a chin and was wondering what materials would be best. I'm looking into the one on this website (from New Owners FAQ) http://www.martinscages.com/products/cages/chinchilla/ that is called the Chinchilla Palace. I'm probably leaning more towards fleece for the bedding since I seem to get allergic to aspen or other wood shavings when handling them (as previously experienced with my hamsters). Do I need to line all the platforms/floors?

3) Cleaning the cage/chinchilla?
I do know that they have chinchilla dust for them to keep their fur clean and soft, but is there more I need to do? Such as washing them, brushing their fur, clipping nails..? Also, besides cleaning their cage once a week with an animal-harm-free disinfectant and washing the fleece, what else should I do to keep their habitat clean?

Those are my basic questions and I'll be glad to hear from all of you and looking to seek the best environment (i can afford) for my soon-to-be awesome family member.

Thanks!! :dance3:
