Ugh! We got bait and switched. Our babies had their first vet appointment today, just a general check up. We have a girl and a boy instead of two boys! I'll bet the woman we got them from knew too, it's a little too much of a coincidence that they needed to give them up right as she reached 6 months.

Aghhh! Now we needed to get Christopher neutered which is completely breaking my heart.

How long have you had them and were they together at their breeders before you got them? I would suggest you get a baby safe cage and separate them. Please start reading the breeding & babies FAQ's.

We've only had them a week. I think they were housed together before. We're going to separate them tonight, thankfully we still have the tiny(!) cage we got them in. The vet didn't seem to think she's pregnant.

It wasn't a breeder, it was some woman on Craigslist that said they couldn't look after them anymore. We asked about vets etc and she said she'd taken them but I wonder how much she lied about now.

Christopher goes in for surgery on the 17th. I'm gutted and scared for the little guy.

:(

My poor babies!

Oh no! this happened to me when I got Dre...she turned out to be Madre. I housed her with my male before I knew obviously and she ending up having 2 babies. Wish I had known to actually check to make sure she was female before taking her home.... unfortunately we sometimes have to learn the hard way.

I really hope she's not pregnant for your sake! And I hope Christopher's surgery goes well and he recovers quickly. I ended up just separating my two and was very sad about it.

I really hope it goes well. We have a pretty experienced vet that came recommended on other sites for chinchillas. But over $300! I hope the price tag is worth it!

I hope she isn't too. I have noticed some behavior changes lately, she's been a little more aggressive, which I guess could mean she's going into heat.

We have them separated right now. She keeps looking down at the other cage to see where her buddy went :(

I'm glad we got them in so early after getting them. I hope it was soon enough.

Remember they need to stay separated after the neuter for about 6 weeks I think it is? Some people forget that. Good luck.

I was reading about that, my poor babies. I hope we can re-introduce them ok. Right now they really miss each other. They keep trying to play through the cages. :(
