I would like to get a new vacuum just for my chin room. My old one bit the dust, (no pun intended) because of all the dust from the dust baths. I am thinking I would like one that is a bagless canister vacuum as teh uprights just don't fit under the cages as well. What kinds of vacuums do you guys use?

Shop-vacs are wonderful for chin clean up. I recommend buying a wider hose, though. The ones that come with the vacuums tend to get clogged.

My chins arnt fans of the noise form vacuums. Once in a while they also put panic on hold and get curious. Id be worried that they'd get to close to a hose of something if i were using it on their cage.

I just sweep everything up. I got a small brush like thing for the cage and a flat edges scoop (like a spatula) that i use as a dustpan. If the sand if a problem i just use a damp rang while their asleep, so i can dry it up (hopefully) with out waking them.

But thats just me'

Exept for under the cages, the floor in my chin room is carpeted so sweeping is out of the question. Getting a shopvac sounds like the best option and then I can do the final vacuum with my good vacuum.

i use a dirtdevil scorpion, its small canister, but its bagless, handheld! corded, (cuz anything without a cord wont have enough power to clean fur dust and poop and hay) i have ferret nation fleece liners, i vac daily had my vac for 5 months now, its still just as strong... get something cheap, but not too cheap, cuz they do die sooner due to cleaning pet cages, than normal household uses

its sucks up hay, bits of wood chews, food crumbs fur its really good, i got mine for $43 plus tax
