A few weeks ago I posted asking for advice about getting a third rescue chin. I just thought I'd give an update on her. We named her Cinderella, Cindy, which means little ash girl. She is a saphire girl, about a year and two months. Her cage would be great, if only it weren't made out of plywood! It probably sounds horrible that she's still even in there but I've been watching and ever since she got pine shelves, chewies and dust baths three times a week she isn't chewing hardly at all. We will most likely be picking up an FN for her on our way home this weekend. Her wheel was one of those wire ones from the pet stores, and it had hair stuck in it I had an ed wheel that we bought on here and the girls weren't using yet because Shadow isn't old enough and she loves it :(. The bottom of her cage was cardboard because the kid "didn't have time to finish it". I stretched fleece across it so now she has a giant trampoline for a floor. She also has a hammock, fleece, tube, and probably the two good things he had for her, fiddle sticks and a cooling tile. I'll post pictures as soon as I take some.

Thanks guys! Yes, she did have a very rough start but I really do think the kid tried. I mean, she had a chinchiller, hay and fiddlesticks. The cage is a great size and I would keep her in it if it were pine. That's one of my concerns now, I am picking up a double FN tonight for her but will only be using one unit since after the qaurentine I plan to put her on top of thAnnie and Shadow (my dad won't let me keep them side by side permanently. It looks really bad.) But it's quite a bit smaller. Will she be okay with the downgrade if she has plenty to play with? I feel bad because I will have the other level...

side by side can be nice if you have the room. And healthy chins.

It might take time for the chins to adjust to a smaller cage, but it can be done. On a few occasions iv had to downgrade my chins from a double FN to a single level. (Mainly because of kit births and growing)

I know it's possible but it's simply out of the question for me. My dad won't budge. Not that it matters anyway. He stepped on one of the trays and broke it so Im going to either have to hot clue it then cover it and see how it goes or use the one with the opening and build a shelf right above it to cover. I see her looking at it through her cage since we put it together and I think she'll be fine if she has enough to do and play with.

before i took in my first chin chico, they didnt know he needed chew blocks of anything. So chico chewed two massive wholes in his FN tray. He could fit though them no problem what so ever if the cage bars wernt below it.

Now he has things to chew so he doesnt chew the tray anymore, but he will often run over to the wholes and sit next to the and stare out it.

That's really cute! I bought nontoxic hot clue and put lined it along the crack on the bottom side of the tray. The plastic melted back together! You can barely see it and she can't get to the glue. This weekend (when I'm not swamped with homework), I'm going to sew her a fleece cover for it anyway. I covered the shelf before she went in because it was one of the dangerous older fn shelves with a gab, I left the bottom plain so it would be easier to litter train her (the girls took about a week for both of them), the little stinker taught herself! I went down there and there was pee in the litter box and nowhere else. She's even smarter than I thought she was and she luckily seems to be adjusting to the cage beutifully, she has a fleece tube, wheel, hay, hammock, fiddle sticks, two shelves (haven't had time to make more), and a cooling tile, it all fits great and she seems to have plenty of space to hop around.
