two quick questions

so like many i did a lot wrong with my first chinny and the one i have now, well that was untill i found this site ^_^ im addicted to this site haha. well ok here are my two question.
1) ok so i found these lava chew perches and toys with lava chews and my chin likes them and ive never heard anyone talk about them so i am now a lil worried if they could be bad for her? ill either find a pic or post one so everyone can see what i am talking about.
2) my boyfriends grandma wants a chin now she just loves mine and she wants one of her own. i have a double ferrett nation cage and i was wondering if that would be ok to house two chins. now if she gets a female ill let them together but if she gets a male he will be on the bottom. i no they have good reach to get a female pregos so is this a bad idea? i dont think i wanna breed at least not for a while so i do not want to riske it.

It is my understanding that lava ledges, swings, and bites are safe for chinchillas. They're one of the only things that are safe from a pet store.

The double ferret nation cage is plenty of space for two chins. They would also have enough space if one was on the top and one was on the bottom. As long as they didn't have any playtime together, the male couldn't get the female pregnant if the cage was split.

My chins LOVE their lava ledges. They have 5 in their cage right now.

oh ok sweet she loves them i have a lava ledge in and a lava swing. i was rele worried about the swing i dont want her to hurt herself but i put it right next to one of the levels so she just reaches out and chews on it. i rele love the lava it lasts more then wood. im wierd though she has lava top story with a lil wood and then bottom floor all wood haha. my spoiled lil princess <3

my boys LOVE the lava bites and lava landings from superpet! Rhino will decimate a lava bite within an hour, lol.

as long as there is no way for the male and female to reach each other, then keeping each gender in each section of the ferret nation is fine. i would suggest getting Bass pans for each level. http://www.bassequipment.com/Cages/Ferret+Pans/default.aspx just order two of the 'pan 1' at the top.

omg i was thinking about that thank you soooooooo much. ok heres another question i noticed on the ferret nation cages that the pieces just screw in do you think that i can get another double cage and put them next to each other and screw them together no gaps and make a double wide ferret nation cage. does that make sence?

If you are going to get another, then why not give each chin their own?

Chins prefer taller cages than wider cages.

Just a note, if you get another chin that is female introduce slowly..it may work but it may not. They dont always get along even if they are same sex. Some animals can just be kind of thrown in together and they will get along but chins are very different. They can really hurt each other if not introduced slowly. We have a lot of AWESOME threads about introductions too.

I think the more cage space you give the better

i no no matter what i get if i am going to introduce that i need to do it slowly. my bfs gma has her eye on this chin and i no i can not tlk her out of it and that she will just go buy it, and its a male. hes rele pretty beigh(sp?) and seems rele tame, and yes hes a petshop baby. i do not think its a good idea but shes old and bitter and will do what she wants. so im trying to do some more digging and see what my options are as far as rooming them. my girl is super spoiled way to use to having the huge cage and i dont want to take it away from her. if i get a male i probably with either A) get another cage and have the two seperate cages or B) have someone make a huge cage thats two big ones in one huge on and have them like that. i am not sure what im going to do but im praying gma does not just spring bringing him home on me and gives me some warning. i would love to take another in but the pet shop worries me and im not 100% sure if i want another one and if i do idk if i want a male.
