Well, i got home from work and wouldn't you know two little kits were waiting for me. The parents were my first chins so i'm not too sure what to do. The babies are in a seperate cage from dad, I took all the shelves out and madee sure mom was ok. Is there anything else I should be aware of? How long until I can put same sexes together?

Actually, you've got to make sure the kits can't get out - baby proof the cage by wrapping it in 1/2 x 1/2 hardware cloth, if it's larger than 1/2 x 1"!
Lets hope Mom gets her milk in, and everything goes well!

You will need to get a gram kitchen scale and weigh the babies to make sure they are gaining weight daily. Babies need to stay with mom until 6-8 weeks or 200gs in size...once they hit that marker then you absolutely must wean males from mom. Female kits can stay with mom, they usually wean themselves. I would keep the parents seperate permanently unless you know their backgrounds (preferably have pedigrees), they came from reputable breeders, and have been evaluated by a professional to determine their quality. If that doesn't apply to your chins they are best kept as pets and not in a breeding situation. You can pair sons with dads and daughters with mom for company.

And get ready for kits again 111 days from the day you found the babies because she is most likely pregnant again.
