gizmo has two cages...both are attached with a pvc tube. He has never touched it before, and it's been in his cage for over a year now. But I did notice that there are two little bites out of it so OH NO! now its worrying time! But a few months ago I purchased (I can't remember from who) the large pcv tube covered in fleece that is attached to the cage. So I am going to cover the PVC tube that I have now w/ fleece to make it safer. But I have no idea how. How do you keep the fleece on? Is elmers glue safe? I know you use polar fleece, where can I buy that? Any sugesstions or help!? I'm a bit clueless when it comes to making things lol

I could make you a tube cover as well, just PM me if you're interested.

Pretty much anyone that sells tubes sells the covers.

Or you could make your own. Just measure around the pvc pipe, and cut a rectangle of fleece wide enough and long enough to be a little more than 2 time the length of the pipe so that you can cover the inside and outside. Then just sew up the long side of the fleece. Then put it on like a sock pretty much.

thats a great idea allie, thanks! But i'm still thinking he might chew on the pvc tube since hes gotten a taste of it... so I think I may opt for a metal tube of some sort. This is probably a really stupid question- but are all types of metal tubing safe? a friend of mine who made the first tubing to attach the cages suggested maybe an alliuminun tube or some other type of metal. I know he cannot chew through any of the metal, but just want to make sure i'm doing everything the safe way.

My only concern with the metal pipe would be if he could get access to the edges of the pipe, aren't they normally kind of sharp?

Do you have a picture of your cage to show how it needs to be connected?

no im sorry I do not have a picture. What we did was cut the wires in the cage and bend them back..then we put a pvc tube with a metal round thing and conected them together and then attatched to the cage. It sounds really confusing, im sorry but I'll try to get a picture of it. I'm not sure if they are sharp or not. I'll just have to feel them. Some metal tubes i've felt before have been nice and smooth.
