trying to figure out what sex my chins are!

I recently became the owner of two standard grays I believe??? The pet store we got them from didn't know much about them! Or about chinchillas in general. I've done some research on them but trying to figure out sex on two friendly but not to trusting chinchillas is hard to do. The pet store seemed to think they were a mating pair but I don't think they new what they were talking about! As far as size goes I think If they are male and female I know witch is witch. I'm just wondering if any one knows a trick to sexing them without manhandeling them as weve only had them for a weak and I dont want two scare them any more than I do just letting them out to excersize...

You can't sex them without looking at them. Size has nothing to do with it.

If they are male and female, you need to put them in separate cages, so it is important that you figure it out.

A male has space between the two body parts and a female does not. There are pictures posted on the forum.

If it's easier you can take a picture of each of their genitals and post them here. As long as it's a clear picture we can let you know the sex of each.

IMO, I'd keep them seperated until you know.

I agree you may want to keep them separate until you know for sure. They may be brother and sister for all you could know
