Went to a different pet store yesterday just to get a look around as to what they had for chin supplies. Found a Chin Chiller..and got it. She has never had one before so I hope she likes it. They only had one on hand, but I was told they carry then regularly, so I will be going back to get a couple more. Also bought her some rosehips. I had given them to her before, but had not in a while. Gave her a couple pieces when we got home, and she loved them. She was begging for more, but I did not want to over do. So I just gave her a new bark stick and it seemed to pasify her.

I think there is some kind of tile you can get in hardware stores that is just like a chinchilla but alot cheaper... Does anyone know what kind of tile it is?

I think it is the clay tile..like flower pot material. But, we need to make sure it is made in USA rather than Mexico.

When I was in Rochester, I went to Lowes (near the Walmart & Sams Club) and bought a few marble or granite tiles. I asked them to cut them in half for me so I could get two pieces from each tile. Overall, it is wayyyyyy cheaper than buying the chin chillers for the same item.

With the rose hips, I would just give her 1 rose hip per few days, or a pinch of presifted crushed rosehips per few days. It's best not to go too overboard with the treats, even if they are healthy ones.

I have used the granite but the marble seems to be cooler.
You can get them at Lowe's or HD. I usually go to the flooring store and they are cheaper and larger.
Hope this helps.
I have a bunch of them.I unfortunately won't be able to use them all.
Sadly they won't ship well or I would put them on here to help all of you out that mgiht need some. ;(
Guess I'll have to tile a bathroom floor :0

I covered all the shelves in one of my cages with granite from Lowe's and it only cost about $20, granite from a home improvement store is way cheaper ;) It looks exactly the same as the chin chillers, minus the price. Usually they will have some scraps laying around that you can get at a big discounted price.

Thanks for all the advice. I have put it into her cage, and she is not quite sure what to make of it, but she seems to be enjoying sitting on it.
Another question...it is still cool now, but when it is hotter this summer, should I chill it in the fridge and swap the pieces out?

ll, now I know better about what to buy next..so in a way I am glad I did buy the Chin Chiller. It was money well spent considering what I have learned. I will be the first to concede that even after 5 years I am still learning things about taking good care of my chin.
I am glad to have found this site.
And even though I have no wish to own one, I do love reading about the hedgies as well..they are adorable.
