Me and my boyfriend took a 5 day trip to South Dakota so I thought I'd share some of the pictures!

At Mt. Rushmore

The cutest prairie dog that I think wanted to come home with me. Haha actually it was looking for food but we didn't feed it.

A buffalo licking our car. It was so funny, she just ambled over and started licking the car.

It was a great trip, and thanks to those who are patient with me who put orders in while I was gone. I'm a bit behind now, so sorry about that!

I lived in SD for about 10 years. I would suggest that everyone go there to visit at least once. There are so many great things to see! Great pics alli!

I feel like going to South Dakota and feed that sweet prairie dog!
Great pics.

Thanks! Yeah, we will definitely go back. We stayed at Custer State Park and they recently put in new cabins in one of the campgrounds, so we stayed in one of the cabins. So it was great because the cabin had heat for at night (and it even had air conditioning) and they weren't too expensive. About $40 a night.
The drive was long, like 9 hours from the twin cities MN and then today I had to drive another 4 hours from my boyfriend's house to mine in WI. So the drive kind of sucked, but it was worth it.
Definitely a different life style than I'm used to though as we tried to go get something to eat at one of the smaller towns and at 6 pm everything had already shut down lol

Our family went to Yellowstone and to South Dakota to see The Badlands and Mount Rushmore, and Crazy Horse Monument. We had a blast. We live in NW Washington, but the kids did great on the drive watching movies. It was a trip I will always remember and it will be hard to top. I am glad you got the opportunity to take the trip and you look like you had a lot of fun. You took some great pics and it makes me want to go back!

Ayup, we rolls up the streets early 'round these here parts. <sniff>

We go out to western South Dakota every summer, even if it's just for a weekend. You missed SO much Allison on such a short trip. The Cosmos, Reptile Gardens, the wild horse preserve, Crazyhorse, Rushmore caves, Deadwood, the dinosaur dig! Tons to do here. :)

Yeah, I know we missed so much Peggy! We plan on going back and have even talked about making it a once a year thing. It was great.

We went past the Reptile Gardens and thought about going, but it was so nice out this past weekend that we opted to stay outside and do some fishing and diving around.
And I had wanted to do the wild horse reserve but all the reviews I read said it was overpriced. Do you think the price is worth it for future reference?

Haha yeah, things did close up shop early compared to out here. But maybe in the tourist season they stay open later I would hope. We did find a place to eat but it was just so funny because I'm not used to that.

I think all those pics of animals were just Peggy's backyard pets. And BTW that prairie dog heard you were the loofah queen and she wanted a hunk of one.

It looks like you had a great time, those pics are great! I love that donkey pic, what a gorgeous face.

The donkeys and the burros are great. The burros you can get right out and walk in the middle of the herd and play with the little babies and pet the older guys.

The buffalo are totally unconcerned about you. They walk right up to you and look in your window, or just walk beside your car.

The elk out there are HUGE. Yeesh. I wasn't looking out my window at one point, and when I turned back there was this NECK! He had to lower his head so I could see it! Keep in mind, I drive an Expedition, no small car. :)

And yes Carol, I am! But my press agent makes you sign a contract when you come in that there will be no photos.

When we had gone to Yellowstone years ago, bison lined the streets and you couldn't get anywhere. I remember being nervous about a stampede or one of them getting angry and attacking the car.

When we went last summer, my son was excited to see the bison come up to the cars, but on this trip, they were out in the fields and more spread out. But we did get up close with both the brown bear and grizzly bear and that happens to be his favorite animal. We had seen almost all the animals we wanted to see but I am a wolf lover and didn't see any. We did see coyote swimming in the river after ducks, seemed pointless!

We also went in Wind Cave and Jewel Caves, two totally different and beautiful attractions.

But I didn't see any momuments to Peggy either, and so the trip was disappointing in the end... :)

If you go to Yellowstone and South Dakota, make sure you allow yourself plenty of time because the sites are endless.

wow.........great pix! love the sepia. ur bf is a cutie.
i have been wanting to make this trip for a while and it seems like there is a decent amount of stuff to do!

Yeah, me and my dad have been to Yellowstone before and that's a great trip as well. A bit of a further drive for us though. I liked Custer State Park because the animals were so close. When we went to Yellowstone they were all further away.
And it was a great time to go because it wasn't the tourist season yet so there were hardly any people around.

Oh Peggy, and another thing that made me laugh was all the casinos! There was like one on every block in Sioux Falls! It's just so odd because here only Native Americans can run casinos, so they're only in certain cities. So people will make trips on buses to go to casinos, but in SD it's like they're everywhere!

I have tons more pictures but didn't want to bore anyone lol
But here's a picture of our cabin

And then Peggy are you sure this isn't you?

And then another cute animal. I may have fed it a peanut.. Hence the stuffed cheeks..

That's me and Sam out for a walk Allie! He's lost a LOT of weight since he's been here. He's almost skeletal...................

<smacks Allison upside the head>

I've been to Yellowstone plenty of times since family lives not that far from one of the entrances. I think the tourists are more of a hassle than the bison! LOL

One of these days I need to visit South Dakota. I have family up in Lemmon, and keep saying I'll go. Those pictures really make me want to go even more now. LOVE the cabin! Looks like you had a lot of fun. :)
