Scoops is all settled in to her new home but I was thinking abour getting her a friend to keep her entertained when our play time is over for the night. She loves meeting new people and is getting a much larger cage for an early Christmas present. How soon is too soon to introduce another chinchilla into the mix? Based on my reading I have seen that age doesn't seem to matter too much but will it be too much to give her a friend so soon in a new home?

So you've had Scoops less than a month, right? I'd wait. I know it's soooooo tempting to start adding right away, but trust me....do NOT go down that path. Enjoy her. Bond with her. You BOTH need to adjust...not just her.

Maybe after a year or so, THEN start thinking about it if you still want another one.

You would also have to quarantine any new chin for at least 30 days for health reasons and there's no guarantee the chins will even get along after a proper intro.
