Does anyone know if any company makes thermometers that you can check online (ie I have one at home by my cages, but can check on temps from work)?

I'd like to do some research to see, that way in the summer months if anything should happen to power etc I will have a heads up and be able to bolt home if needed. I've seen some that have a sensor for outdoors and one for indoors, but it only works with the unit attached to a cord for checking in different places in the house.

If no one here has experience with such a device, I suggest doing a search on Google for cabin sitters, cottage sitters, or greenhouse supplies. I had similar concerns but for heat during the winter for my hedgehogs. I ended up buying a Sensaphone cabin sitter. There are lots of different models that will do lots of different things. The one I have is very basic, but it will call me if the temperature goes too high or too low.

I found a lot of information about various types of equipment on orchid websites.

These sort of devices are really common with Public works departments. Many pump stations and other facilities in water conveyance and treatment have such devices to monitor pressure/temperature, pH levels, etc and they can do all of that. Be checked online, call a phone, send an email. What have you. I don't have any contacts directly (yay being a junior level engineer) but that is the area I would check with if you want a reliable one from a company who has been in business many years.
