On my my chins has a very large testicle. He's had it since I've had him. I asked the breeder about it, and she basically told me that chin bodies are weird and all different and she was sure he was fine. It's just on one side. And grape like. It's gotten bigger the last few weeks. But when I hold him he pulls it in. Just when he's relaxed (anytime I'm not holding him wo his permission) he hangs out. I just took the breeders word for it, but a friend of mine asked if he had a tumor, so I thought id ask...anyone else have this? Or know anything about it?

I'd worry more about it being an infection of some sort than a tumor. Although it could be a tumor or other growth. If it were staying the same size, I wouldn't worry...but you said that it has gotten bigger and that's not normal at all. I had a chin with a strange testicle that the vet wasn't worried about, but it never changed size at all.

Is the other testicle much much smaller?

You may want to think about going to the vet if it's getting larger and larger and significantly larger than the other one. Recently I had a male get a fairly bad infection that affected not only his urinary tract but also, somehow, his reproductive tract...his testes and scrotum actually had the puss building up around him. (This was bizarre, I have never seen anything like it before.) I know that they can get infections, and they are easy to treat with antibiotics. I'm not trying to scare you too much, keep an eye on this and get to the vet if it seems like there is something off. Things like this are always much easier to treat early on...well, if there is a real problem, that is. ;)

It is much larger than the other size. The other side is 'normal' to me.

The problem with the vet is that when my guy is helld he pulls it back in, so u can't see it, so if I took him it would not normal not hangin out. I had an apt for him when I first got him, but when I picked him up to take him he pulled it in and it stayed up for about a week then slowly came down again... it's like the more relaxed he is, the bigger it is. When he sleeps it's biggest. I know it sounds crazy! Has anyone had this happen??

I would still take him to the vet. The vet should be able to palpate the area and feel for abnormalities or differences between the two. They've got to feel around in addition to looking anyway, so it shouldn't matter if the testes are not necessarily visible.

My boy's "boys" hang out when he's relaxed and go back up when I pick him up or whatnot, so that part is normal.

The vet should be able to feel it if it is abnormal.

I just had that one chin that had one testicle that was nearly twice as long as the other one. We rushed to the vet the next day for help and the vet said it was fine and not to worry. BUT, that chin never had it get larger and the width of it was the same as the other one...it was just the length that was different. It seemed to pop out at a funny angle, but I was assured that it was just because it was longer.

Your guy has had it swell up more or it looks like it has...that's cause for concern, for sure.

The one side is much bigger than the other. Goodness. Thanks guys!

I'll have to find out who is a good Chin vet here. My regular vet doesn't know chin stuff. I called him right after I got this guy to have it checked out.

You asked me awhile ago about a good vet in your area. You might have forgotten. I used to go to Dr. Kilbane when I lived down in that area.

I forgot who you said, I was actually going to PM you later this afternoon. Thank you so much!

There is also someone here who worked at the zoo I've heard is really good. Have you heard of him?

Oh by the way, you know who I got him from, and her knowledge...

Haha yeah no kidding! I'm not a breeder or anything so I won't be missing his offspring. I just hope it isn't cancer or something. Is testicular cancer common in chins? Or any testy problems?

Ok, I just wanted to let anyone who was reading this, that so far Simon is fine. The vet said the shape is fine, and on the large end of 'normal'size. He said if they grow more, he will remove them, but so far so good. Simon kept pulling them up, so he had to be sedated to be checked out. I feel a lot better now that a vet has told me he's fne. Hopefully they will stay that way.
