So tonight, my usually standoffish, reluctant, antisocial chin ran to the front of the cage when I approached and started swishing his tail. I opened the door and he came out into my arms, so I carried him to the play room where he was abnormally frisky.

My other chin, Powder, was in the play room as well, and equally as frisky--jumping off the walls, climbing all over me, nibbling my arm, running laps, and frequently humping Dash (this is nothing new).

What WAS kind of new was that they were both swishing their tails... seemingly at ME, not towards each other.

Powder is about three and Dash is probably close to one year old (both were rescues). Any idea what the tail swish was about? Seemed like chinnie attitude, but I can't imagine what they would have attitude about--they were both out for play!

Thanks!

Generally it means they are "in the mood." :) Sometimes it results in some arm humping, though thankfully I've never had to experience this first hand.

Yep - In the mood! LOL.

Macy does this a lot just before he gets out for playtime or during playtime...No humping though. Thankfully.

oh goodness! this means Gizmo wants to mate with me too. how awkward!

this tail swishing has also caused him to knock over many things on my bookshelf lol. aww this is so cute to know, now!

I think it's one of the cutest things they do!!! I call it "talking trash" when they tail swish and start chittering at me, too!!! :hearts:

I love the tail swishing. Only 2 of my boys do it but its adorable. I never knew what it meant until now, but it only makes it cuter!

I love when they get tails swishing....I also note it on my calendar LOL. It is adorable but thank goodness none of my boys seem to find me attractive ;)

omg haha when i pic my chin up he swings his tail in circles! lol i would give him a girlfriend but hes a rescue lol

Ours do that too (as well as Kenai swishing his tail at me ), though I think that's less of a "flirting" thing as much as them trying to regain their balance while we're picking them up... we like to call it "propeller chin"!
