We have two boys, Hank and Hemi that we got on Halloween. They are now 8 and 10 months old, Hank is the oldest. They get along very well now. Hank is very laid back and loves being held and loved and will crawl into my hands. Hemi will sometimes do this also, but other times will run up the cage. Recently he has started acting like he wants scratches so I'll open the cage and he'll bite me really hard or dig at my hands or sometimes both, so I'll shut the cage. He'll start biting the cage, running arounds, and jumping at Hank (who is probably sleeping). Hemi has also started scaling the sides of the cage when he does this. He has plenty of stuff to chew on, so I know he's not bored, but I don't want to be his new chew toy! I've tried putting on gloves when he does this, but then he just bites at those and pulls even harder. My boyfriend thinks something is wrong in his head, I think he just has a different personality than Hank. I guess I just need some reassuance...:hmm:

Edgar will pull and try to burrow on me when he's bored or I am not paying attention to him. I figure he's exploring and is learning what he can get away with or wants my attention. Sometimes it's hard enough to startle me but never with the intention to hurt me. I just figured it's little chinchilla behavior.

Do they have a wheel? Sounds like a mix of attitude and built up energy! Maybe give him extra play time out of the cage. If he bites you, blow in his face with a quick spurt, it won't hurt him, but it will startle him from doing it.

They do have a wheel that Hemi loves to use. They get play time in the bathroom every night. With Hemi's new strange behavior he has been especially naughty during bathroom time ie: chewing on the door trim, walls, my hair, pants, socks, biting, etc. I will try blowing in his face, that's a really good idea! Thanks for the help everyone!

If your guys go the way mine did, it may take a while, but that behavior will settle with time. Crash was quite a live wire around that age and he's calmed down considerably now. Granted, he's not much of a snuggler at all, but he's back to being handelable.
