My one chin Stitch has been making a very strange sound the last couple weeks. It almost sounds like a kitten meow or a baby bird cry. The other two boys have never made this sound and I have never heard Stitch make it before.
Here are the two things that are different since I noticed him doing it.

1. After Richie's last vet visit he has been much more active and the two of them, although separated by wire have been playing a ridiculous amount but he makes the sound both when richie is in his cage and when he is out for feeding.

2. Zucca was moved upstairs and is about 8 feet from richie & stitch's cage.

Anyone else have a chin that makes this strange sound??
When I go check on him, he is fine. he also does the attention bark but this is a whole other sound.

Sounds like the "warning cry" to Me... My girls sometimes do it while sleeping but usually when they are nervous about something and they want to alert the rest of the herd of possible "danger". It works to, everyone else gets VERY alert after the "warning". I think it's cute ;)

Is it more like a high pitched squeal than a bark?

If so, some chins just like to express themselves that way. It isn't quite the scream they make when they are in pain or scared (I hate that noise...) It's more of a baby cry type noise. Bronco makes that noise just sitting up on his ledge doing nothing. Last night Ty made that noise for about 20 seconds for no reason just to get me to run over.

I've noticed that with a lot of the chinchilla noises they learn to do them to get attention.

My dogs had a squeaky toy that sounded similar to it (before they devoured it) but that was a stressful week for Me for I kept thinking it was the chins talking when it was just the dog chewing!! LOL!!!
