So, my fiance Rob started not feeling well the weekend of March 1. He had an upset stomach and thought it was just something he ate. Fast forward 3 weeks and the upset queasy stomach has turned into pains. Went to the dr and they thought it was a gall bladder issue. Went for an ultrasound and the results came back on Friday that there is no gall bladder issue.

He called a gastroenenologist today and the first time he could get an appointment at office 1 was May 3, at office 2 was April 23, at office 3 there was a cancelation and he can go in tomorrow. He is now thinking he has an ulcer, but we have no idea what it is.

Yesterday I didn't feel well at all, and for the past 2 weeks I have been feeling queasy. Today at lunch I was having sharp pains and then I threw up at lunch. Tonight during dinner my stomach started hurting so much I couldn't eat.

This is ridiculous. Any ideas?

It's weird that you both have it. I had something similar a while ago, and they never did figure out what it was. I was tested for gall bladder issues, ulcers, and every other GI issue the doctor could think of - all negative. As weird as it sounds, what got rid of it in the end was that I started taking a probiotic every day. It was literally like flipping a switch - I started taking them and the pain went away, and has never come back. I don't know if that would help you, but it couldn't hurt to try.

my chiropractor suggested a probiotic... he is very into "all natural" things and trying not to go with pills....

I have been down for 2 days now with stomach cramps, nausea, and diahrea. There must be something going around, but usually a stomach virus doesn't last long. Usually I try bananas and yogurt...I also have a huge headache. I'm using this as an excuse to have some quiet time to feel better. That way I don't feel guilty for not getting my house chores done. I'm hoping this bug goes away quickly...

There is a horrific flu going around that mimics gastro issues. It lasts about a week, and is very horrible, just like you described. Someone posted about it on here I believe as well. Ask your doctor if your syptoms match the flu. No use getting a colonoscopy for no reason! Lol.

He's had it for about 4 weeks now... And if anything, I think he would get an EGD instead of a colonoscopy, going down the throat. Poor thing...

I'm not in so much pain this morning, but the stomach is being all gurgly and weird and I'm scared to eat.

We've both been on the BRATT (Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Tea, and Toast) diet for a few days, and it doesn't seem to help.

Have his DR. check him for H. Pylori. It's a bacterial infection in the stomach. You can get it by eating something contaminated or someone not washing their hands, either the preparer or yourself (not implying you are not clean!). If he has it he will have to take some nasty antibiotics for 2 weeks, which sometimes cause worse symptoms than the infection itself!! After having an endoscopy they found that I had H. Pylori, a polyp in my stomach, a hernia, & severe irritation of both my stomach & esposhogus from acid reflux. I take 80mg of nexium every day and 20 mg of pepcid ac at night. I have to watch what I eat and I still have some stomach \pain now & again in which I take something else for another issue. I also have heard about the above mentioned strange stomach flu that has been going around. Lots of pain & gas, and also vomitting OR the other end or both! Hope he finds out soon & is on the road to recovery.........

Oh wow, do I ever feel your pain. I was on that diet for a few months while they tried to figure out what was wrong. Colonoscopy, endoscopy (get them both done at the same time if you have to get one!) lots of blood tests and more antacids than I can count. Which actually made things worse for me. I react opposite to them and actually get more acid with them.

If it gets really bad, ask for some Librax- it seemed to help my stomach noises, cramping and pain more than anything else. I hope you feel better. You haven't been eating pistachios have you?

I'd say to try the probiotic route and yogurt it seems to help with GI stuff since it helps the good bacteria in the stomach.

Like above, there has been an awful flu going around thats been hitting GI tract. Some people have had help with antibiotics.

I went through a period of time with horrible stabbing gut pain and nausea with no reason behind it. Dried tangerine peel tea is really wonderful for the nausea- better than peptobismal, it worked wonders! Also for the pain my doc prescribed belladonna which worked really well and didn't have add to the crummy stomach like many other pain meds.

Good luck

May I ask what Belladonna is and what it does exactly?

Be sure to ask for an H. Pylori test if they scope down his throat. They take a tiny piece of tissue from the stomach and test it for H. Pylori, which is the bacteria that causes ulcers. There is also a blood test for it but it is just looking for the antibodies to H. Pylori. In my opinion, the tissue test is better.

Well, he goes in for an EGD (Upper GI scope) on Wednesday. The past few days he was feeling ok, and then last night he felt like crap again. Tonight he has the bucket next to him because he is afraid he will get sick.

The PA we saw still seems to think it might be gallbladder, or possibly an ulcer... we'll know 2 weeks from wednesday I guess.
