I was playing with my chins las night ans noticed that one appears he has some hair loss around his eye. I think it looks a little weaker than the other too. There no crust or runnyness no signs of infection but I am very concerned..he seems to squint it sometimes too. He still eating and playing full speed as normal but could you guys please help! Thank you

Is it actual fur loss, meaning bald around the eye or could it be possibly that the fur is matted down but still there? Definitely posting a pic would help.

Iwill go home tonight and get a pic. It seems to me its actual hair loss. Do you think possibly not changing the dust bath often enough or do they loose hair sometimes normaly?

I honestly was afraid this might have happened to one of my chins the other night. I was actually more afraid one of the other chins pulled it out! However, when I looked at it, it just appeared matted down instead of actually gone. The next morning it looked perfectly fine. My conjectures were either another chin cleaned and licked around his eye, he had accidently hit the water bottle with it, or he squished his head so far between the bars (which he does) that it slicked it down. I would maybe give it a day and see cause the exact same thing happened to me.

Here some pics...still doesn't look a whole lot better...??

That definately does not look like what I thought my chin was experiencing ... I however am unsure what it could be as I'm still pretty new to chins myself. My best guess would be if he was housed with another chin and that his cage mate could be doing it. :-/

That is matted down fur around a wet, irritated and/or infected eye. Is it both eyes? Is there a whitish discharge or just wet looking? That could happen for different reasons but it almost looks like pink eye to me. Is he eating/drinking well? How are his poops?

He does seem to be eating and drinking his normal self...however it's funny you mention his poos cause they we're a lil strange today and I even posted some pics since i've finally learn how to do that...but as he woke up a lil more tonight and more active they looked normal. No discharge but im also wondering if his brother could be doing this as we'll. But def looks matted down...had given them fresh dust bath other night n it seemed to look better but when I saw him tonight it didn't look too hot...if it was pink eye how do they get that?

I doubt the other chin is doing this to him. Since he is eating normal, it could be quite a few different things such as air flow (ventilation) problem, irritated in a dustbath or with an object, but with eye problems, if the issue does not go away in a couple of days or so I would get him to a vet. The eye needs to be stained to see if its scratched or infected.

Chin has a eye infection, the rim is red and I would guess pink eye-its contagious so a vet visit is in order.

Pinkeye is very contagious and can be spread through contact from human to pet. You can also get pinkeye from your pet.
