I was 'rough' grooming my extra dark ebony female and she was not liking it - She actually 'threw her coat' while I was grooming and now she has a bald spot near the base of her tail - It is amazing how much coat she lost while I was grooming her. So now I can't show her at the York show - Darn and she is so nice. Anyone else ever have this problem??

If the spot was not really noticable I showed the chin and some did well even with the spot. How big is the spot?

The same thing happened to my mosaic the first time I groomed her. It looked absolutely horrid and I wanted to cry. It was a pure bald spot right above her tail. I took a photo of it to keep and now I can't find it.

Happens all the time and usually to your best one. We had a female to take to National and she threw fur on her side just 2 weeks before the big show. Its very frustrating. :hair:

The spot is very noticeable - I was so looking forward to showing her. She had a beautiful shinning black coat and has really good weight - OH well - I am glad I am not the only one - makes me feel better

You could still show her. She may not get Grand Show but at least you can see what else they may comment about.

thanks Jeri/Randy (who ever wrote) but I am afraid she will lose even more hair if I show her. I tried combing her again today and she totally 'freaks out' - with hair flying everwhere. If she does this at home, I can image what she would do at the show. I guess this a lesson learned, I need to work with the chins I plan on showing, combing them a little each day so they get use to the combing 'bit' even it they look like they don't really need it. It is a shame, her sire was breed by you, a extra dark ebony that I got from Eb White. He throws some very nice chins and he is a sweetheart (very calm). In fact, I can't figure why she is such a 'fruitcake' Her sire is very calm and her mom is not very exitable
