( Yes, I didn't know what to name this thread. )

So, I let my chinchilla have her playtime in the bathroom. (Only place I can make chin-proof) When I go to take a shower I bring my lab in the bathroom so I can keep an eye on her. [She will chew everything up..try explaining a half-eaten notebook to your teacher. I guess they could believe it if you toss in ''I swear my parents feed me?'' ] Any-who, my question is..

Will my chinchilla start to get stressed out at playtime if she smells my dog's scent on the shower curtains? They are her favorite thing to play with and I'm worried she will start to smell it. (If that's possible?) I clean the bathroom a lot now that I have her running around, but I'm curious as if I should start to get my mother to watch my dog, and not let her in the bathroom for this matter.

I'm new to owning a chinchilla, so sorry if this sounds over-protective. :)

Thanks!

Some one more experienced may have a better answer. But, when my dog has puppies they spend a lot time in the bathroom (any time im not home). My chinnies have never seemed to have an issue with it. Of course they are never in there at the same time, and I always clean the bathroom in between the dogs being in there and the chins play time.

Yes, she does.
She started to sniff around the shower curtains last night, so that's what made me bring this question up.

My chinchillas are in my room and my dog sleeps with me, my chinchillas don't have an issue with my dog or the smell of my cats when I bring them into our bathroom where the cats often sleep in the sink.

I don't think your chins will have a problem with it.

The people I got my boys from had 5 dogs, 2 cats, turtles, frogs and lizards. When I first met the boys they were living in the same room as the cats and they didn't seem to mind. They also didn't really mind the dogs running around apparently- or so the owners told me. Apparently the cats would sometimes play "chase" with the chinnies and the chins liked it?

I can't really imagine that not being very stressful, but I also imagine that since there are plenty of chins in pet stores and many allow leashed dogs then it should be fine.

Your chins should be just fine! As an animal that relies on his/her nose of course your dog is curious about the scent. For your chins' saftey continue to keep the dog away from them. We've heard stories from the best chin owners where a dog accidentally gets in the chin room and chins have gotten killed through the bars or when they escaped from their cages. Even the friendliest pooch can accidentally kill something as small and fragile as a chinchilla. My dog got into a wild rabbit's nest once and killed all the bunnies by stepping on them.
