Hello everyone. I recently noticed a bald patch of fur on my chinchilla's nose. I threw away the current dust bath. Could this be fungal/ringworm infection? Thanks.

It's not that noticeable unless you get close.

I blew on the nose to show the bald patch more clearly.

It might be, yes. It looks pretty dry. I have found that fungus tends to show up first around wet areas - eyes, nose, mouth, genitals, rectum. Then on areas where the wet extends like the paws and so on. If you can get some Blu-Kote I would just use a Q-tip and run right down the center of that missing fur area. If it is not fungus, Blu-Kote will not hurt it. Be sure to be very careful about washing your hands after and making sure that everything in the case has bee boiled, baked, washed, dried, etc.

I've started applying Blu-Kote on the nose yesterday. I also added feed-grade yellow sulfur powder to her dust bath (at bit less than 1:5 ratio).
She'll soon be moved to a smaller "quarantine" cage. The cage items will be sanded, cleaned (50/50 vinegar-water), boiled, and baked this weekend.

Question: How long should the Blu-Kote and sulfur application last? Thanks.

I have not used the sulfur, but I assume probably the same length as the Blu-Kote. If you can do the Blu-Kote twice a day for 5 days it should take care of it.
