Hi, long story short, I have a 12 month male who is very very shy. He doesn't really take initiative and the female he's living with seems to be a bit bossy. She's like a huge princess in a way... in other words, the male is not the most "manly" chinchilla... will they still breed? the most exciting thing I've ever seen he does is running on his wheel.. Thanks!

Are your chins from a good breeder with pedigrees? If they aren't please don't breed them. Many genetic issues can be carried without showing in a parent. Do you really want to risk your females life just to have kits? Males usually are calmer than females, at least that's how mine have always been.

You shouldn't have a wheel in a breeding cage...just because you do not see breeding does not mean it is not happening
