I have two chins, Vergil is very forward and active however when I try to focus on Dante, my oldest chin, Vergil keeps pushing him away.

How can I focus on Dante without totally ignoring Vergil?

I don't have an answer for that, but i can tell you that my three girls get highly jealous of each other too. If ones getting attention, they will all rush the door to get some themselves. And they all take turns pushing each other out of the way. Short of having one out of eye sight of the other in the cage, Ive yet to find a way around this.

If you only have two maybe you could try one hand - one chin on each of em. Some times that works with my two boys.

My chins did the exact same thing. Let them both out to play around the room (i suggest you make a small confined area), just sit quietly and still in the area with them. While Vergil is busy exploring, maybe you can score some points with Dante :) It'll take some time, but eventually you'll get the chance to pay some attention to Dante without Vergil's interference.

Well, what I would do is when its play time you let your active chinchilla run and jump around while you hold and give attention to your other chinchilla. You do want to give attention to your other chinchilla to, but I would give alittle extra to the shy little guy.

You can try letting Vergil out first during play time and use that time (even if it's just 1 minute) to bond with Dante before letting him out. Just try not to let Dante see that Vergil is running free or he'll get jealous. I always let my chins sit on my lap for a bit before letting them touch the ground so they have something to look forward to.
